You cannot grow a business effectively without an email list. Therefore, building a list is necessary no matter what niche you’re into.
However, email marketing may become complicated, especially for novice.

What Is Email Marketing?
Email marketing is the use of electronic mail to develop relationships with potential customers and/or clients.
It is an inexpensive way to advertise your company and its products and/or services compared to many other types of marketing.
It’s also extremely easy to set up making it a very accessible type of marketing for startups and small businesses.
But most people don’t want to get started because they think it’s “too complicated, or they “don’t know how to get started,” or they “don’t have enough time to learn.”

Why Use Email Marketing?
- Email marketing is often reported as second, after search marketing (SEO), as the most effective online marketing tactic.
- Over half of all Internet users check or send email on a typical day.
- Advertisers can reach substantial numbers of email subscribers who have opted in to receive email communications on subjects of interest to them.
- Email marketing allows targeting by demographics (age, income, etc.)
- Most email service providers offer in depth reporting and analytics, such as click-through rates, open rates, bounce rates, and conversions.
Growing Your List
Growing an email list is a little bit complicated, especially for beginners. You have no idea where to start.
In this article, I will show you exactly how I built my list and significantly increased my revenue.
1. Create A Lead Magnet
The first thing you need to do is you need to create a lead magnet.
A lead magnet is an incentive that you will give to your audience in exchange for their emails and any other personal information. It’s a piece of digital, downloadable content, such as a cheat-sheet, e-book, or a webinar training.
A lead magnet has to be free. You can’t charge for this thing, or you will not generate enough leads, and your conversion rate will be super low. It must also be valuable or else people will have no reason to get it in exchange for their emails.
I want you to create something that you would charge for. Put an effort into it, and say that you will charge for it for 10 bucks or 20 bucks. Then give it away for free in exchange for their emails. Of course, it must be related to your niche and it must also contain valuable information that people would really find useful.
There’s a reason why it’s called a lead magnet. It’s so valuable that it attracts people and makes them opt-in.
2. Create A Capture Page
People will say that generating leads is the lifeblood of your business.
But how would you exactly generate leads using lead magnets?
The answer is, you need to point people into a capture page.
A capture page, also known as squeeze page, is a page where people put there email in order for them to get your lead magnet.
You can create a Facebook campaign then drive people into a capture page. Or perhaps you can put your capture form templates on some of your website’s pages.

Don’t worry! Creating these pages and templates is easier than you think. I built my capture pages without coding!
If you have a website there are bunch of lead generation services out there such as Thrive Architect.
Keep in mind though that you can only use Thrive Architect with self-hosted WordPress.org sites. If you don’t have a website yet, you may want to check my guide on starting a WordPress blog. I always recommend people to have their own website.
But if you still don’t want to create a website, you can use ClickFunnels. It’s an all in one solution for all your marketing dilemmas, including creating the best capture pages.
The next step you need to do is to link your capture page into an email autoresponder.
An autoresponder allows you to automatically send your lead magnet to the person who opt-in. This is how you automate your online business.
However, I recommend Aweber for beginners.

4. Send Offers
Rookie mistake: Sending an offer right away.
Don’t try to sell just yet, right after they opt-in.
Remember that the idea of building a list is not just for selling or driving traffic. It’s your way of communicating to your audience. Give them helpful information and valuable articles that will help them succeed. Respect them. Let them know that putting their email in is worth-it.
Don’t forget your initial goal, which is helping the community. Be mindful to your subscribers and build trust by solving their problems.
Perhaps after a week or so, using your chosen email service provider, you can start sending an offer.
However, it is more than likely their not gonna buy your first offer.
This is where the power of an automation comes in. Using your autoresponder, you can send them an automated email sequence pointing them back to the offer. These are emails that can go out every day, every other day, or even every week, etc. It’s all pre-written and automated.
The beauty is that you can send them a lot of offers, not just one. This can be an affiliate offer or even your own courses. Until they unsubscribe from your list, you have them as an email subscriber.
However, make sure that you’re not spamming them with offers. Your audience will think that you only care about getting sales.
What do I need?
1. A website. As an online entrepreneur, It is best you have your own website. Read my guide on starting a WordPress blog, if you still don’t have one.
2. Lead generation software. I use Thrive Architect and Thrive Leads for creating my landing pages and opt-in templates. You can also use OptinMonster as an alternative or ClickFunnels if you have a bigger budget.
3. Email service provider. I use Aweber for my email autoresponder. I integrated it with Thrive Architect and they work in harmony.
4. Lead Magnet. If you still don’t have a lead magnet, start creating today. I’m telling you, it will be worth it. Start with an E-book, you can create one using Google Docs.
